aaaaactually, I, Deacon, proprietor of the internationally extant design firm SQGLZ, am stepping back from the design game indefinitely. After spending all of 2025 on speculative in-house projects, I, and my community, have determined that I would be best put to use as a full-time martial arts instructor
(something that has always been happening in the background). Well, now it’s the foreground. If you’re interested, head over to

newsletter. I’ve never sent messages often, but if a truly worthy design project comes my way, I’ll drop news about it there. I’ll still probably drop some longform thinking here in
articles, and I promise they won’t all be eulogies. My
YouTube channel yet remains, if you wanna listen to some long dialogues on holistic economics. And over on
Instagram I’ll be mostly posting martial arts content from now on.
I am deeply appreciative for everyone who has made this major change possible. The power of design to benefit human society is real, but it turns out that I am accutely needed on the mat. And single focus works out to be ten times more effective than dual focus. So, off I go.
